During Chinese New Year, 8 billion red packets, filled with money and well wishes are gifted globally. This installation named Double Happiness ( 囍 ) designed for Westfield Doncaster, celebrates these festivities through the an interactive art installation that paired social media engagement with the act of opening red packets. Over 8 (a lucky number in Chinese Culture) days, 88 red packets were given to lucky visitors to celebrate the act of giving. Each red packet was constructed from laser cut perspex and card, each with a gold flower that would bloom upon opening, revealing the prize.
