Architectural firm Buro was commissioned by Envato to design and fit-out their basement, and they approached United Make to help them realize their design; angled shards of light to enliven the unused basement level. We were commissioned to design and fabricate these light tubes, as well as the adjustable and flexible seating pods for the workspace.
The light tubes were fluorescent lights encased in custom laser-cut structures with 3D printed joints. Due to the nature of the un-level floor, each shard had to be unique, and joints were measured and modelled on-site to ensure a perfect fit.
The finished product is a sea of pods lit by shards of lights.
